Okay, the first 5 points of the Robin Sharma 50. Let's go
through them one by one!
1. Know what you want. Clarity is power. And vague goals
promote vague results.
Yep, exactly! And I believe that the power to know what you
want, and knowing it with such clarity and unvagueness (lol this word means
clarity anyway) ultimately comes from a tight-knit relationship with God.
Example? Solomon. He asked God for something he valued more which is wisdom than what God offered in the first place. (which of course, other people
including other kings and power-bearers would pick "just because"
it sounds nice and it is something that is regarded "better" than
wisdom!)
"Therefore give to Your servant an understanding
heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who
is able to judge this great people of Yours" I Kings 3:9
And as we can see he asked God with such clarity : "discern
between good and evil". Simple but crystal clear.
2. Remember that every problem has a solution. Maybe you
just can’t see it. Yet.
“Saat
ku tak melihat jalanMu, saat ku tak mengerti rencanaMu, namun tetap ku pegang
janji-Mu, pengharapanku hanya pada-Mu.. “ etc etc.. Know this song? Ps. Niko Njotorahardjo
composed this beautiful song and it really fits this 2nd point. Always
trust God with things ahead that we cannot see, and believe that God’s solution
will always be the best.
3. In this Age of Dramatic Distraction, the performer who
focuses the best wins the most.
“Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be
straight before you.” Proverbs 4:25
“Set your minds on
things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Col 3:2
These
two verses talk about being focused. The first one talks about being focused as
an instruction, taken from Proverbs
4 whose title is A Father’s Wise Instruction.
Quoting
from ESV Study Bible : The
idea that the eyes should look directly forward suggests
resolution about remaining in the right way. Metaphorically, it suggests that
when a person turns his eyes away from the path, he is apt to stumble.
The second one is more specific, it asks us to
focus on God instead of other things. This refers to pursuing a deeper
knowledge of Christ himself and all that belongs to living with and for him.
Matt 6:33 is also a good one for explaining this topic.
4. Before someone will help you, you need to help them.
Ok,
individualistic point of view: image. Christianity point of view: Because God
has loved us first in the first place!
“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
Christian
love is a gift from God, demonstrated supremely in the cross (see Rom. 5:8). God’s love always takes the
initiative, and the love of Christians is a response to that love. –ESV Study
Bible-
Yep,
the ultimate “help” is God “helping” us out (more like “dragging” instead,
helping sounds like our effort is counted too and God only helped us) of sins and to
eternal life! Thus we need to help others right?
5. Become the most passionate person you know. It’ll be
contagious.
“Bondservants, obey in
everything those who are your earthly masters, not
by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing
the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for
men” –Col 3:22-23
Heartily is the key word here. It means more or less the same
as passionate, and moreover the important point is to do it for the Lord, not
for men.
The context on this verse is Paul telling bond-servants (slaves) to obey their masters. If slaves/bond-servants are bound to do so, then
I believe God will expect much more passion from us whose work are not as heavy
as slaves back then, and of course, much more appreciated. But remember that the
ultimate appreciation we can receive is from God alone and none else.
