Christians

"I also do not believe that any religious text is complete, even my own Bible, in that even texts which are divinely inspired are still subjectable to various misinterpretations due to translation and that they are all absolutely susceptible to misinterpretations. Two people of the same culture can read the same sentence and, given their experiences in life, interpret it two very different ways. We have to also consider that it is not only possible, but likely, that both of these are probably wrong." -Jon Davis-

The problem I face dalam hidup gua sebagai orang Kristen adalah orang2 menganggap interpretasi mereka terhadap suatu ayat = truth, instead of just an interpretation! Walaupun gw yakin bahwa mereka pasti berdoa dan minta pertolongan Tuhan dalam membaca itu, but sometimes interpretations are just outright crazy & outrageous.. I mean, Christians should never ever ever ever hate & condemn others!! True! The only one we should hate is devil.. The only things we should condemn are the bad deeds, not the person doing it..

The only truth is the Bible itself, right? Dan saat kita interpret Bible, the thing to hold on to is that it's God's words, not ours.

Cowok Masak

Gw inget banget pas kecil gw demen banget nonton acara masak just because the food seems really delicious! Dan di sekolah seperti yang kita tau kalo cowo main masak2an itu main nya sama cewe, dan semua cowo bilang "ah banci lu uda sana main masak2an sama cewe2" and this creates sebuah aversion terhadap nonton acara masak buat para bocah2 laki2 saat itu.

But now? Damn, if a guy's resume listed that he loves to cook, and his blog often talks about recipes he tried lately (and yes, not college-student-recipes such as indomie and corned beef omelette or burnt-sausage-whitebread-pizza), I bet a lot of girls will fall for him.

Dan kalo mereka mau ikut2an masak, ya by logic mereka ngerasa kok gua kayak cewe.. hahaha..

Dan sekarang dengan adanya abang Gordon Ramsay dkk + competitive shows such as MasterChef dll yang bikin masak seolah2 keren banget, orang2 yang nonton (majority seumuran kuliah kerja + mungkin SMP SMA) pun ngerasa masak itu keren.. Apalagi kalo pake bahan2 yang eksotis n gak standar..

Eh gua jadi laper cuy nulis ginian.. Hahaha

Impossible is Nothing

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”  - Muhammad Ali

'Nuff said..

Quora copas material

Pertanyaan nya :

How can you overcome your envy of people who are your age but are far more successful than you?

Answer nya :

Emphatically stop giving a shit.
  1. You have ZERO idea what their personal lives are actually like, or if their outward appearance of success is total bullshit.
  2. Stop focusing outward, focus inward.  A preoccupation with the success of others is taking time away from tending your own internal garden.
  3. Believing in common measures of success (money, position, family) is believing in a ready-made lunch box of meaning that society is opening up and shoving down your throat.  WHO CARES.  Figure out what success is for yourself and then just focus on pursuing that.
  4. You are in your 20s, so be prepared to witness some epic personal collapses of those whom you are currently envious of.
  5. You can't do anything besides what you can do. (SO DAMN TRUE RIGHT!?) If you're giving it your all and staying focused on your values, then your life is progressing exactly as it should be.  Did you hear that?  EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD BE.
  6. When you have an episode of crippling self-doubt, picture each doubt as a single sheet of paper.  Then crunch all of them together and throw them into the toilet of your mind.  Now angrily kick-flush that toilet with your foot.
  7. Actively work to express gratitude for what you do have every morning.  The happiest people I know are full of gratitude, and they are profoundly in touch with their innate talents.
  8. Before you read number nine, think of at least one person who thinks you're awesome.  Try to think of yourself as that person does.
  9. Isn't the universe so vast, so deep, so incredibly amazing?  Who could possibly worry about a 3200 dollar difference in salary when there are stars supernova-ing right this very minute?
  10. It's a marathon, not a sprint.  Near the finish line, you'll realize you've only been racing against yourself.

YEP!! So stop your self-destructing process and start realizing that these facts as true :)

MC + Correctness vs Kindness

Hi readers,

Gw MC bok, well not literally MC sih, gw ijin kerja karena sakit dan gw males MC karena gw pikir outcome nya gak worth it (20 for medicine, 35 is my daily pay thus i just get 15 for going to south spine and getting an MC while I am able to rest in my room for free, which is better to me LOL)

Karena tadi pagi bangun trus badan gw sakit semua trus meriang trus panas gitu rasanya (bukan panas kayak di gurun yeh, panas kyk demam!!) Tapi sekarang udah oke dan besok gw bakal dtg kerja lagi kok! Hihi..

2nd thing to ceritakan (lol @ my grammar T_T)

Gw mau coba kasih cerita yang imaginary BUT might happen in real life.. Here goes :

Budi (Yer typical schoolboy) sedang ulangan. Di soal ulangan (by the way it's an english test) tertulis :
1. How's the relationship between the word "marvelous" and "awesome"?

He answered : They're good friends.

The teacher gave 0 marks for that question. Tapi Budi protes ke guru nya, marah2 dan berkata "I answered correctly!! What is the right answer according to you maam?" She says "Of course the coreect answer is "they are synonyms of the word great!! And moreover you're being disrespectful by giving a joke of an answer!!" Then Budi takes it further "OH If you're looking for an answer like that, you should have asked 'WHAT is the relationship... not HOW is the relationship!!! Are you competent enough to teach ENGLISH maam?!"

Yeap segitu aja cerita gw. Yang gw mau sampaikan disini adalah : Budi is not wrong (YEP he's technically correct) but by doing so he's being a douche. The thing is, most people these days, they are not wrong, but they do correct things in a way that induces a negative effect as to the whole environment...

Sama aja kayak orang yang ngomong "excuse me" rudely to an elder yang ngalangin jalan dan bikin orang2 di belakangnya jadi terhambat/very slow. Maksud dia baik, bikin orang2 jadi jalannya lebih cepet, tapi kan bisa ngomong excuse me nya sopan gitu.. This is a very usual case in SG ya kan?! Hahaha

Gw gak blang dia salah, apalagi kalo emang polisinya yang salah in the first place, tapi by berdebat dan gamau ngalah (at least talk things nicely lah, gausa pake debat marah2) dan bikin macet (well this is a specific condition, most of the time gak bakal bikin macet sih) dia kan jadi merugikan orang lain. dan dia juga leave the day grumpy. :p

The point is, let's do things not only correctly, but also nicely/with love (ceileh with love ud kayak ending surat cinta aja nehh lololol)

Sekian readers, tunggu kisah2 saya selanjutnya yo! :)

Internship

Yep, saya sedang internship. Udah dua setengah minggu nih, dan kok rasanya agak ngga se-thrilling apa yang gw bayangkan in the first place yah.

Gw banyakan gabutnya, well gak totally gabut sih, gw kemaren ini bikin report dalam bentuk presentasi, disubmit tadi pagi, then, yasudah gaada kerjaan lagi dah! Tapi ntar jam 2 gw presentasiin ke supervisor gw sih. Hahaha.

Colleagues? They're super damn nice. Fellow interns? Sama, bae2 smua. Trus gw smpt tanya sama slh satu colleague, lu ngrasa gimana atmosfir kerjanya? Dy bilang ya okelah, gak tense, gak terlalu nyantai juga, jadi damai+maknyus. Dy lgsg bandingin sama banking n consulting n other stressful jobs, dy ngrasa bersyukur juga kerja disini. Yep, but for some people the excitement of working in such a stressful environment is gold. Not for me! :p

Makanan? Haha udah mule bosen sama kantin tmpt krja gw neh, walaupun blom gw cobain semuanya. But bukan berarti gak enak loh, lumayan lah. Dan hebatnya disini murahnya murah buangettt..Tadi gw cm keluar duit 1.90 buat sepiring nasi dan 1 lauk 1 sayur, where the lauk and sayur are super banyak cui. Kenyang dongs hahaha :p

Ah gw kerja dulu yeh. Gabut malah ngeblog lol.

Cheers

First 5 points!

Okay, the first 5 points of the Robin Sharma 50. Let's go through them one by one!

1.   Know what you want. Clarity is power. And vague goals promote vague results.

Yep, exactly! And I believe that the power to know what you want, and knowing it with such clarity and unvagueness (lol this word means clarity anyway) ultimately comes from a tight-knit relationship with God.

Example? Solomon. He asked God for something he valued more which is wisdom than what God offered in the first place. (which of course, other people including other kings and power-bearers would pick "just because" it sounds nice and it is something that is regarded "better" than wisdom!)

"Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours" I Kings 3:9

And as we can see he asked God with such clarity : "discern between good and evil". Simple but crystal clear.

2.   Remember that every problem has a solution. Maybe you just can’t see it. Yet.

“Saat ku tak melihat jalanMu, saat ku tak mengerti rencanaMu, namun tetap ku pegang janji-Mu, pengharapanku hanya pada-Mu.. “ etc etc.. Know this song? Ps. Niko Njotorahardjo composed this beautiful song and it really fits this 2nd point. Always trust God with things ahead that we cannot see, and believe that God’s solution will always be the best.

3.   In this Age of Dramatic Distraction, the performer who focuses the best wins the most.

“Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.” Proverbs 4:25

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Col 3:2

These two verses talk about being focused. The first one talks about being focused as an instruction, taken from Proverbs 4 whose title is A Father’s Wise Instruction.

Quoting from ESV Study Bible : The idea that the eyes should look directly forward suggests resolution about remaining in the right way. Metaphorically, it suggests that when a person turns his eyes away from the path, he is apt to stumble.

The second one is more specific, it asks us to focus on God instead of other things. This refers to pursuing a deeper knowledge of Christ himself and all that belongs to living with and for him. Matt 6:33 is also a good one for explaining this topic.

4.   Before someone will help you, you need to help them.

Ok, individualistic point of view: image. Christianity point of view: Because God has loved us first in the first place!

“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

Christian love is a gift from God, demonstrated supremely in the cross (see Rom. 5:8). God’s love always takes the initiative, and the love of Christians is a response to that love.  –ESV Study Bible-

Yep, the ultimate “help” is God “helping” us out (more like “dragging” instead, helping sounds like our effort is counted too and God only helped us) of sins and to eternal life! Thus we need to help others right?

5.   Become the most passionate person you know. It’ll be contagious.

“Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” –Col 3:22-23

Heartily is the key word here. It means more or less the same as passionate, and moreover the important point is to do it for the Lord, not for men.

The context on this verse is Paul telling bond-servants (slaves) to obey their masters. If slaves/bond-servants are bound to do so, then I believe God will expect much more passion from us whose work are not as heavy as slaves back then, and of course, much more appreciated. But remember that the ultimate appreciation we can receive is from God alone and none else.
